Why join the Friends of HRI? If you are concerned about the future of the Gulf of Mexico and the world’s oceans we offer you an opportunity to do something positive about it. Our goal is to help support the work of the Harte Research Institute for Gulf of Mexico Studies, in its efforts to assure economic and environmental health. While their work is focused on the Gulf of Mexico, the results are applicable worldwide and bring a unique perspective to the conservation of our oceans.

levels of giving
To support the efforts to identify and preserve the natural assets of the Gulf of Mexico, the Harte Research Institute is asking for your help.  As a Friend of HRI, you will become a part of sustaining the Gulf for future generations.

$100 SEA ANEMONE
With a beguiling crown of tentacles, the sea anemone invites investigation: What else is in the sea? Receive invitations to all special events, quarterly updates from Harte Research Institute, acknowledgment on our website, and an autographed book by Dr. Sylvia Earle.

$2,500 BLUEFIN TUNA
Bluefin tuna migrate over thousands of miles, sometimes traveling as fast as a nuclear submarine.  Engage your imagination in a lively luncheon hosted by Dr. Sylvia Earle and Dr. Larry McKinney.  See through their eyes the importance of preserving this important asset.

$5,000 MANTA
The future of life in the sea, from creatures like the majestic manta ray to the smallest microbe, depends on the actions we take.  Get under the sea on a special diving expedition to the Flower Garden Banks hosted by Dr. Sylvia Earle and Dr. Larry McKinney.  See first-hand the importance of preservation to protect and sustain the beauty of these natural resources.

$10,000 WHALE SHARK
Although the whale shark is the world’s largest fish, little is known about this beautiful and elusive species.  Take a “once in a lifetime” journey to observe the migration of Gulf whale sharks between Yucatan, Mexico and the Flower Gardens Banks guided by “her Deepness” Dr. Sylvia Earle and HRI Executive Director Dr. Larry McKinney.

Note: Each level receives the benefits of all preceding contribution levels.
